He specializes in the settlement of complex multi-jurisdictional disputes in the national courts, as well as under the procedures of international commercial and investment arbitration. Volodymyr has substantial experience and particular focus on foreign investment, energy, oil & gas, technology & construction, banking & finance and corporate disputes.

Arbitration experience: Volodymyr represents clients in arbitration proceedings under various Arbitration Rules such as UNCITRAL, ICSD, ICC, SCC, LCIA, VIAC, ICAC at the UCCI, etc.

Volodymyr is also well-acquainted with peculiarities of arbitrations in specific areas of industries, namely in construction disputes under FIDIC forms of contracts, as well as in GAFTA and FOSFA arbitrations.

In spring 2013 Volodymyr spent two months in London on secondment at the Commercial Disputes Department of a City law firm.

Representative Cases:

  • Representing Swiss company in a dispute which arose from more than 10 million USD contract for work performance with a state authority of Ukraine, under UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules administrated by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague;
  • Advising a major international bank in a dispute before the English High Court of Justice for debt collection of more than 70 million USD; 
  • Enforcement of a multi-million EUR arbitral award in the UK with effect in numerous other jurisdictions;
  • Representing a client (one of the leading Ukrainian mobile phone operators) in a dispute, which arose from fraudulent activities under an international GSM roaming agreement with Russian mobile operator, under ICC Arbitration Rules;
  • Representing a foreign bank in a corporate dispute with Ukrainian minority shareholder in relation to the transactions with the total value of around 150 million EUR.
