On 17 February 2014 Zakon.ru portal hold a webinar on international arbitration: myths and modern technology

This event is the first in a series of webinars on the portal Zakon.ru. The webinar was devoted to current issues in international arbitration and hold by such partners as – “Muranov, Chernyakov and Partners” law firm, Baker & Mckenzie CIS, Limited and Ukrainian Arbitration Association.

Alexander Muranov (managing partner at "Muranov, Chernyakov and Partners"), presented his speech about current information technologies in international commercial arbitration proceedings, the following questions were discussed:

Internet as a source of information for the parties to proceedings and arbitrators.
Secret audio recording, iPad video recording, the use of laptop and Skype.
Using law firms rankings and databases on the Internet.
The risks of social networks and the use of gadgets during the hearings.
Internet as a powerful PR tool.
Risks differences between versions of a text editor and risks of automatic Check Spelling.

Vladimir Khvalei (partner at law firm Baker & Mckenzie CIS, Limited) presented ten myths about international arbitration, some of them:

Arbitration is a quick way to resolve disputes.
Arbitration is an inexpensive way of resolving disputes.
Arbitration is confidential.
Arbitrators are not subject to outside influence.
