UAA Working Group V presented statistics on recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards in Ukraine in 2006-2020

In 2019 UAA Working Group V set an ambitious task to collect and review all cases on recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards that came before Ukrainian courts since 2006. The work continued through 2019-2021, with the final aggregated and peer-reviewed dataset containing more than 600 judgements. The quality and quantity of the collected data allowed the Working Group to shed light on how the review of recognition and enforcement cases had been changing over the years. Among other things, the research confirmed general ‘pro-arbitration’ stance of Ukrainian courts, with the rate of recognition and enforcement never falling below 80% and reaching above 95% in some years. The research presents a number of other statistical information, which will be of interest to legal practitioners and other users of international arbitration.
