UAA supported the draft Law of Ukraine No. 12141

Last week, Board members of the Ukrainian Arbitration Association, Olena Perepelynska and Oleksandr Droug, took part in the meeting of the subcommittee on the implementation of decisions of the ECtHR and ADR; and later Olena Perepelynska also took part in the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy.

At the meetings, colleagues took part in the discussion of the draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On International Commercial Arbitration” regarding the expansion of the competence of international arbitration” (reg. No. 12141 dated 21.10.2024). The law is aimed at expanding the list of disputes that can be submitted to international arbitration, in accordance with the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration. It also provides the possibility of considering investment disputes.

The UAA expressed its support for the draft law.

Following the results of the meetings, the Legal Policy Committee recommended adopting the draft in the first reading.
