VIII Arbitration school

ATTENTION! In connection with the spread of the viral infection COVID-19, 8th Arbitration School, which was to be held on May 1–5, is postponed to August 21–25, 2020. Ukrainian Arbitration Association invites everyone interested in enhancing his or her knowledge and skills in international arbitration to participate in the 8th Arbitration School, which will be held in Kyiv on 21 - 25 August 2020 at the offices of the leading Ukrainian and international law firms.

Arbitration School is annual platform gathering students and lecturers from different countries and is conducted to enable experienced lawyers specializing in international commercial arbitration to share their experience and knowledge with the School's participants.

The intensive five-day program will include general and specialized courses on arbitration. Training will be provided in the form of lectures, interactive workshops and mock case. Foreign and Ukrainian experts in the field of international arbitration will be among School’s lecturers and speakers. The working language is English (including Mock Case). Number of participants is limited to 30.

Applicants should send their application form and essay in English (up to 1000 words) on the topic «Arbitration agreement in electronic form: challenges and opportunities»  on secretariat@arbitration.kiev.ua with the subject: “Arbitration School 2020″.

The deadline for applications is 30th of June 2020.

Participation fee for all participants: UAH 200*.

*The Arbitration School participation is free of charge. The fee is paid to cover the coffee-breaks only. Travel, accommodation and meals expenses are borne by the participants.

Requirements for the essay

Only relevant to the topic, individual, previously unpublished works in English (Standard Written English) are accepted. Essays should have a research nature, be characterized by relevance, specificity, the profundity of topic introduction, logic and consistency of thoughts, as well as meet the general requirements for scientific works.

Requirements for the essay:

  • The work to be submitted in MS Word format.
  • Font Times New Roman; size 14; line spacing of 1.5.
  • The page margins: 3 cm to the left, 1.5 cm to the right, 2 cm to the top and to the bottom of the page.
  • The essay should be up to 10 pages of A4 format (not including the title page and the list of used literature).
  • The work should have a name, a bibliography list, an introduction, conclusions, and a writing style appropriate for the target audience (international arbitration specialists).
  • Bibliography list should be concluded in alphabetical order and placed at the end of the text. References to the literature should be put in square brackets: the first digit denotes the number of the position in the bibliography list, the second digit - the page. The digits should be separated by a semicolon.

Works that do not meet the formatting requirements may not be considered by the commission, which will be notified to the contestant who sent such work.
