On April 4, 2014 in the premises of Asters law firm the awarding ceremony of the winners and finalists of the First Ukrainian essay competition in international commercial arbitration was held. The competition was jointly organized by the Ukrainian Arbitration Association and Ukrainian Bar Association Students’ League.
Participants were greeted by the UAA President, Partner, Head of international arbitration and international trade practices at Sayenko Kharenko law firm Tatiana Slipachuk, Senior Associate of Asters law firm, the UAA Secretary General Yaroslav Petrov and Counsel at Sayenko Kharenko law firm, the UAA Board Member Olena Perepelynska.
By decision of the Scholarship Committee (Tatiana Slipachuk, Yaroslav Petrov, Olena Perepelynska and Markian Malskyy) the winners of the essay competition are:
I place - Oksana Matiyash, Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Oksana was awarded with a monetary price, a right to become a candidate member of Ukrainian Arbitration Association and a paid internship at Sayenko Kharenko law firm
II place - Andrew Onysko, Institute of International Relations Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Andrew was awarded with a monetary price, a right to become a candidate member of Ukrainian Arbitration Association and an internship at Asters law firm.
III place - Victoria Martynkova, Institute of International Relations Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Anastasia Nguyen, Odessa National University, named after I.I. Mechnikov; Andrew Shostatscky, Yaroslav the Wise National Law University. Students are given the right to become a candidate member of the Ukrainian Arbitration Association and useful literature.
Contest finalists - Larisa Danchenko, Alina Makovska, Sofia Kovach, Vyacheslav Korytskyi, Dmytro Stetskov, Oleksandr Tymchiy – received Certificates and the right to participate in the Second Arbitration School without writing an essay (if the contest work was written in English).
On behalf of the Ukrainian Bar Association and Students’ League participants were greeted by Anna Gluschenko – Students’ League Chairman and Daria Siedykh – the supervisor of Department “Seminars, conferences, law contests and competitions.”
